ABOUT
Creative South Tyrol is an interdisciplinary and future-oriented think tank.
Our group is composed of professionals of the creative industries and hubs, of educational and research institutions, as well as of public entities. Together we all work for the promotion and development of creative industries in South Tyrol.
Our group aims to support the creative industries of South Tyrol to become more visible, to stimulate dialogue and idea-sharing among different players, and to promote future scenarios that have arts, design, and sustainable development at their core.
This website is a dedicated virtual space for the think tank members and creates a bridge with local interested people and organizations that want to be informed and involved in initiatives related to the creative transformation in our region.
What are cultural creative industries?
They include those cultural and creative enterprises with a commercial focus that are engaged in the creation, production, and physical or media distribution of creative and cultural goods and services. The commercial-connected focus of every cultural and creative economic activity is the so-called “creative act”, concerning all content, works, products, productions, or artistic, literary, cultural, architectural, or creative services that are the basis of the eleven sub-markets. (First Creative Industries Report South Tyrol, page 11).

- We collect data in the region as a basis for future projects
- We follow a collaborative, multi-level, and multi-sectoral approach for cooperation, knowledge transfer, and community activation at the local and international level
FACTS & DATA
The First Creative Industries Report South Tyrol presents insights of the creative industries in South Tyrol. To give you some figures: The active companies were 1,257 in 2011 and 1,276 in 2017. The number of employees also increased from 4,713 in 2011 to 4,989 in 2017.
The focus of the report is a SWOT analysis that highlights the strengths and weaknesses of this sector, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. Representatives of the local creative industries perceive some of South Tyrol's territorial specificities as strengths. These include multilingualism, landscape, mentality, and lifestyle, as well as the diverse range of leisure activities. The existing network between those working in this sector is also mentioned as a strength, together with the diversity that exists within the sector itself. On the other hand, the interviewees underlined the following weaknesses in the South Tyrolean context: the lack of market presence, space, and infrastructure for cultural events.
Speaking of the future, it was said that internationalization represents a great opportunity for the further development of the creative sector. Moreover, respondents suggested the usefulness of a unified platform for creative industries that could function as a central point of reference to which creative and cultural professionals in South Tyrol could turn to.
